Latest HRRR shows the heaviest snow will remain over east Denver through midnight, with about ~5″ in Boulder.

The lesser values in NE Boulder County are because the HRRR has rain mixing back in after 2pm…

It took at little extra time in Boulder, but rain has finally changed over to snow! The northerly flow coming down the south side of the Cheyenne Ridge has created and east-west oriented warm wedge from the downslope, visible in the radar loop below.

Shown below is the moisture content of the atmosphere this evening. Notice the path from the Gulf of Mexico to Colorado. To get to Denver, it crosses right through SE Colorado where severe thunderstorms were occurring earlier this evening.

This line of storms likely contributed to the lull in the action here this evening, as moisture was mostly consumed before it could reach westward to us.

As the storms head east and begin to die down, moisture will funnel back in, causing an increase in precipitation for our region after midnight.
