Ben grew up in western Pennsylvania and holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree in meteorology. He currently works on a programming language tailored for scientists at Harris Geospatial Solutions in Boulder.
The smell of cow manure in Boulder or Denver is a sure sign that a good upslope storm is about to commence! These "shit winds", as they are called, originate from the area northeast of Denver, near Greeley. Strong and persistent low-level upslope is required to bring the noxious smell into the Metro area. This same upslope coincidentally also tends to produce widespread precipitation for our region.
