Ben grew up in western Pennsylvania and holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree in meteorology. He currently works on a programming language tailored for scientists at Harris Geospatial Solutions in Boulder.
Chinook winds are well known across the Front Range. The word "Chinook" is often mistakenly told to be derived from a Native American word meaning "snow-eater". In fact, Chinook is actually just the name of the Native American tribe where the word originated along the Columbia River in the Pacific Northwest. It has no known origin or translation.
